I decided to keep Mike's secret to myself as I took a compass heading east to get back to the dock without having to surface. It was black all around me, and the flashlight barely provided enough light to read my compass. I made it to the ledge that would bring me up the other side of the river.
I ascended slowly with my hands above my head, to avoid running headfirst into the bottom of the boat. I was directly in front of the Gold Hunter as I reached the surface. I started swimming around the side of the boat to climb up on shore. Another crack of thunder vibrated the water.
Three seconds later, a blinding flash of lightning lit up the area with an unnatural-looking white light. The dark silhouette of a small man was on the shore in front of me. A pair of black glowing eyes told me that it was Abraham. The light disappeared, leaving a blurred darkness.
