Title: The Root Of All Evil - Hope Street Church Mystery #4 Author: Ellery Adams Published: 9-30-2014 Publisher: Beyond The Page Publishing Pages: 286 Genre: Thrillers & Suspense Sub Genre:, Cozy Mystery, Amateur Sleuths, Christian, Romance ISBN: 9780940846378 ASIN: B00OTYMSR6 Reviewer: DelAnne Reviewed For: NetGalley: . Cooper Lee and the Sunshine gang are busier than ever. There are a rash of burglaries in churches that have them all wondering who would rob a church. Then Cooper is asked by her boss, Mr. Farmer to talk to her subordinates to see if one of them may be stealing from the company. Edward Crosby comes to the weekly Bible Study Class along with a friend of Savannah's, Ms. Donna. Then following a parent teacher event, that the sunshine group volunteered to work at, a teacher is found murdered in the principal's office. It appears the church robber surprised and killed her. The gang tries to let the police handle it, but soon find themselves deep into their own investigation. Ellery Adams has brought this plot closer to home for Cooper. There are numerous suspects including the creepy Henry. Cooper is looking for answers as to exactly what Nathan wants for their future. He seems happy with the status quo. We are introduced to Officer Will Brayden, partnered to Detective McNamera in the murder investigation. He also seems to find Cooper fascinating. As the investigation progresses the gang and the police work to find the killer, but they should know the killer is working to stop anything or anyone that is a threat to him. I enjoyed my brief visit to Richmond and the Hope Street Church. I liked learning more about the school and its struggles. The Sunrise Bible Study Class continue to grow more real every book I read. I can see them as clearly in my mind's eye as I do when I think of my family. I want to talk with them, pray with them and let them know life is a roller coaster and not to let the low times weigh them down. If you have not read this series before you are in for a treat. I suggest reading starting with The Path of the Crooked and build the background of the characters. If you like this can be read as a standalone. There is enough information given to keep you up on past events, I am just a serial junkie and like to read everything about the characters, both main and supporting. It is also a good way to see how everyone fits into each others lives. Either choice is good and you will soon find yourself drawn into the lives of Sunshine gangs and their families.

A Wonderful Christian, Cozy Mystery. This is the fourth book in the Hope Street Church series. I have only read the first one so I missed out on some developments along the way, but this book could still be enjoyed without having read the rest. Cooper and her friends from Hope Street Church Bible study group get involved again in another delightful cozy mystery to solve with lots of turns and twists that will keep you guessing. There are a few mysteries going on in the story that involve thefts and the big one that involves a couple of murders. Of course there is also Cooper's life with her job, friends, family and love interest that add another dimension to the story. Cooper has received a promotion at work that causes her to become involved in trying to find out who is stealing from the company. She is also dealing with her feelings regarding her boyfriend Nathan. She wants the relationship to become more serious and he seems quite happy with it the way it is. Her little sister Ashley is pregnant, but it is a risky pregnancy and she is on complete bed rest which she hates. Cooper helps her to overcome her boredom and angry feelings in a couple of situations and it helps her to get her mind off of some of her issues. The big mystery starts off with church robberies and escalates when a teacher from the Hope Street Christian Academy is killed in the Pastor's office. The Bible study group helps the pastor cope with the situation as well as doing some investigating on their own. A new police officer begins flirting with Cooper and she starts to question her feelings towards both Nathan and "Will". When there is another murder and someone breaks into her parent's home, Cooper becomes frightened and begs Nathan to meet her at the hospital where her sister is in labour and in danger. She does not know which way to turn. She knows that she needs help from God to help her to solve this mystery. With everything in chaos can she and her friends catch the killer as well as catch the thief? This is an engaging and fun cozy mystery that will keep you guessing until the end. I highly recommend this book. Also, included are some delightful recipes from Magnolia’s (her mother Maggie) Kitchen. I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Great Series! I love this series! This book picks up where the last one left off. Cooper Lee has a great boyfriend, and loves her bible study group. However, things start going wrong when there are a string of church robberies and an art teacher ends up murdered. Now Cooper Lee and her friends need to work together to find the murder. This book has humor and mystery. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series. There are also some great recipes at the end of this book that I can’t wait to try. A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
