Myka Dorsett is a young social orphan who gets a job in space in order to get away from the restrictions surrounding him at home. Only he finds that space has more rules than planets do. And ignoring them can be deadly.

After having been virtually abandoned by his parents, Myka wonders whether anyone anywhere really cares about him.

Explosions in space, pirate attacks, and unexpected friendships lead him to discover a surprising answer.
