Viscous, heinous crimes committed against a daughter of God, commencing when she was a preschooler. It relentlessly perpetuated for years, and the fallout was horrific. Suicide and Sex Work: Finding God in a Godless World is the story of Hope Doe, the author. It is a story of devastating emotional pain. It is a story of confusion, and a young girl's baffling, complex relationship with God. It is a story of self worth, self esteem, self identity and self harm. It is a story of isolation, crushing loneliness, and of nowhere to turn and much, much more. It is a story of seeking true, unconditional, steadfast love. She went to hell to look, and came back not only with the love of God, but with His grace as well. This is the story of a miracle and how it came to pass. Author Hope Doe's writing style is such that it pulled me into the maelstrom of what his her world and invited me to bear witness to her life's events from the inside, other than from the outside looking in. Her approach is hard hitting, straight forward and no nonsense. She pulls no punches here. She minces no words. Perhaps she employed this method to serve as a stark reminder of just how profoundly this inhumane, gruesome business of depravity known as sex trafficking affects victims and survivors alike. Well, guess what? It worked. Author Hope Doe courageously wrote her story to help her heal. She wrote her story to help others, She wrote her story to encourage victims and survivors to use their voice, and she shared her story to be a voice for those who cannot speak. She shared her story to raise awareness. I believe she'll be successful.

This book is completely truthful and authentic as Hope describes the events of her life. It is deeply personal as Hope recalls events and records her feelings, views and intensely personal struggles after suffering such horrific abuse. Her no compromise approach to authenticity and her gift of self expression result in a heartbreaking, yet ultimately uplifting narrative. This testimony is a challenge to my own Christian life and values at a deep level and I am immensely privileged to be able to correspond with Hope on social media.I cannot commend this book highly enough. I know that it will be an encouragement and help to Survivors of abuse and a challenge and call to action to everyone who reads it.

In this beautiful story of God's grace through an absolutely horrific life. One bad break after another, Hope writes with class and beauty. She uses enough detail to give the reader an idea of the terrible things she endured without going overboard. As a fellow sex trafficking survivor, I highly reccomend Hope's book to anyone who is struggling, or has been in this same crooked industry. I recommend this book to "normal" people who have never been subjected to this type of treatment though their lives to get an idea of what some of us have gone through, and everyone in-between. 5 stars for sure!! Hope has done an incredible job of sharing her story and I am so proud of her for putting this difficult story on paper for all to read. I found it hard to put down, and easy to read. I read it in 2 days! Highly, highly recommend!!
