Read an Excerpt

Beck slips his key into the lock of the condo door and silently opens it. He pushes it open all the way and motions me in ahead of him. It’s almost one a.M. and both of us are exhausted from stress, lies, and a lack of sleep.

We’ve been at JT’s parents’ house in Sausalito, just two miles from their son. Neither Beck nor I wanted to go there, but we felt it was what innocent people should do. We both knew the police had us in their sights, and while they might also be following the theory that JT was killed by a Vegas bookie, they were not going to leave us alone.

The time we spent at Candace and Colin Townsend’s home was dreadful. We arrived to find Beck’s parents were already there, because of course they were going to call their closest friends first with the awful news. JT’s mom was wailing in the arms of her husband, who eventually gave her a Xanax to calm her down. It wasn’t until she polished off a vodka tonic that she finally slipped into sort of a silently numb state of shock where she sat on a velvet couch while Beck’s mom patted her hand in an awkward show of comfort.

Beck’s dad though?

You could tell he was devastated, more so than Colin Townsend appeared over the news of the death of his son. He faced the windows of the library, where we were all congregated, and stared out into the blackness. He barely acknowledged Beck when we arrived and was clearly distracted. I wondered if he was trying to manage some type of internal pain that he may have been suffering as a father.

We weren’t surprised when Beck’s mom called us not five minutes after the cops left to deliver the news. Beck, in turn, told his mom about the cops being there and that we were on our way.

Again, we really didn’t want to go, but it was what was expected of a grieving friend and partner of Jonathon Townsend. As Beck’s girlfriend, I was expected to go as well, although what I really wanted to do was open up a bottle of wine and drown my misery over what has gone down as the single worst day of my life.

Yes . . . even worse than the day I was gang-raped.

Killing another human being—even one who brutally violated me—was more traumatizing and damaging to my soul than I could have ever imagined. I was such a fool to initially even think it was an appropriate course those months ago, and now with the benefit of hindsight, I wish with all my might that I had never concocted the foolish plan to kill JT. I wish I would have gone straight to the police and let them handle it. I wish I’d turned to my dad to let him comfort me when I learned my attacker’s identity.

In this moment, I even wish I had never stepped foot in the ballroom of that Sugar Bowl Mixer where my intent was still to confront and kill JT, but instead I met Beck, his business partner, who enslaved my body, and later my heart.

Yes, I’d even give up Beck if I could go back in time and change things so I wouldn’t have this guilt pressing down on me. And it’s not just guilt that I took another life. I think given time, I’m going to be able to accept that in that moment I had no choice. I was reacting on survival instinct and I think most people would have done what I’d done.
But I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to forgive myself for the course of events I started with my stupid plan for vengeance, which led to the police knocking on Beck’s door and looking at him as a potential suspect.

I will never forgive myself.

Beck did an admirable job at the Townsends’ of portraying the devastated friend but also the one with strong shoulders who bore everyone else’s grief. We “learned” some details of what happened to JT from his parents, who were contacted soon after his body was found.

Book 3 in The Sugar Bowl Series and you do need to read the first 2 before you start this one. I was hooked from page one and was up all night reading and to be honest I'm finding hard to put words on paper to let you know just how good this book and series was. This book does have more drama and angst than the other two but I believe it was needed because that was what pulled the whole series together and gave us a perfect ending to the trilogy. It's so hard to write this review and keep it spoiler free so I will keep it short, sweet and to the point. This book is full of twists and turns, love and suspense and it really shows the love that Beck and Sela had for each other and just what they would do to protect each other. This series is an emotional ride and you need to jump on and read it. Sawyer Bennett once again gives us another brilliant trilogy and what can I say about the pretty covers I love them

This book series... Wow! I loved it. Much different than her other books but so well written. The cliff hangers were killer, but all three books are now OUT and ready to be read. Beck and Sela's story who would have thought it would turn out like this. The twists and turns were kind of crazy, but oh so believable with what real families go through.... I loved the final book in this series. Beck and Sela both get to face their demands, together... There is a bit of revenge in this tangle of sex and lies that run deep... But what happens when the trust the whole truth comes out.... Will Beck be able to stand by his woman? What will he do to protect her? Will protecting her mean the end for his life as he knows it? Will they find sir happy ending? Or will the sex and lies win? Pick up these books starting with Sugar Daddy, then Sugar Rush and then read Sugar Free. Fall in love with Beck and Sela as they fall in love and find each other only to find out there is so much more they have to figure out than love.....

This is the book I have been waiting for, the conclusion to the Sugar Bowl trilogy. After nearly blowing my mind with her cliff hanger at the end of Sugar Rush, I was anxious to see what happens next and Sugar Free picks up where Sugar Rush left off. Wow!!!! This book was even better than the first two. The story-line is absolutely riveting; I couldn’t put the book down. I stayed up till 3am to read it in one go. Not a clever thing to do when I get up for work at 5:30am. I just needed to know what happened next; what an amazing conclusion. The twists and turns throughout this series were inspiring. I have to admit you kept us guessing and so often when I was sure you were going in one direction, you suddenly switched gears and shocked me. Sugar Free was thought provoking to say the least. It made me ask myself, what would I not do for love? Would I break the law to protect those I love? Absolutely! All my questions were answered and I truly believe that justice was served, for all the characters in this series, not just Beck and Sela. Not going to say too much as I do not in any way want to spoil this for you. The epilogue was fantastic, too many times you read a book and are often left to wonder what happens, Sawyer Bennett ensured that this was not the case with Sugar Free. Although having said that I would certainly love to read Denis and Caroline’s story. (hint, hint Ms. Bennett) I knew from the first two books that the love that Beck and Sela have was soul deep, but in Sugar Free you are given the opportunity by Ms. Bennett to see just how truly these two love each other. Sugar Free is a beautifully written, highly emotional and fitting conclusion to one of the best series I have read this year.

Wow great series, I loved all 3 books. I read the last 2 like one right after the other. This was a sizzling, sexy, hot love between Beck and Sela. I am going to have to check out more books by Sawyer.

Sugar Bowl is definitely a 5 star series. Sela and Beck are left reeling after the events that unfolded at the end of Sugar Rush. My heart was in my throat for most of the book just waiting for the next shoe to drop. There was still the fair share of angst but it was just different than it was in the first two books. It was more "what would you do &/or sacrifice for the person you love" versus "the plotting, secrets and thirst for revenge". I thought it was a great finale and had IMO one of the most satisfying epilogues I've ever read.

Couple of turns I won't have expected but all in all a great series.

3.5 STARS! The conclusion is finally here! Truth be told, I should have waited until they were all out because I think my reading experience would have been SO different if I read all three books together. Sugar Daddy was on my top fave list and it completely WOW'd me from the moment I opened the book. Sugar Rush answered some questions but left readers with more and now Sugar Free ties it all together and tells the whole story and gives readers the finale that they are looking for. Sugar Free is still intense and suspenseful. You won't know what will happen to these characters and will be biting your nails waiting for the outcome. Ms. Bennett still delivers the heat though I appreciated that it was second to the intense drama of the story and giving readers the answers to the questions building up throughout the series. My favorite part is the epilogue and I had such a smile on my face! I truly can't give away anything away in this review without revealing what happens so I will just say - read the books together! I believe together it will make for a reading experience that is captivating, suspenseful and will keep you at the edge of your seat until the very, very end! Ms. Bennett is another new author to me and I can't wait to read more from her!

Great conclusion to this series! You have to read the entire series in order, as they are not meant to be stand-alone books. This book was different from the previous two in that it had a lot more suspense and plot twists. There is still that amazing sizzling chemistry between Beck and Sela and sexy times are included, but there is such a depth now to their relationship. An unselfish, deep abiding love. There is a lot of feeling and emotion in this book. At times, I was angry, frustrated, sad, moved, my heart burned with their pain and soared when things were good! Everything a good book should have in it! I was on the edge of my seat half the time. I really enjoyed this series and it was brought to conclusion beautifully! I loved the epilogue! I am not going to give anything away because I want you to read this series and find out for yourself that this is an intense, but terrific ride! If you like to read intense, SEXY romantic suspense, then this is the book series for you! Read the series, you won’t regret it!

For years Sela Halstead dreamed of revenge, but the quest for payback has been anything but sweet. Now, once again, she finds herself at the mercy of Jonathon Townsend, his hands crushing the very breath from her body. And even though she escapes with her life, Sela fears she may never recover. In desperate need of shelter and comfort, she runs to the one man she can trust. Beckett North has stood by Sela since the beginning. But can he handle the brutal truth? Beck will do anything to protect what is his—and make no mistake, Sela belongs to him, heart and soul. The passion between them runs hot, even as their world begins to unravel. With the legacy of his ruthless business partner hanging in the balance, Beck stands to lose everything: his fortune, his family, his freedom. But each touch of Sela’s mouth on his skin, her nails down his back, makes it harder to let her go—and it might not even be his choice to make. Review: Loved Beck and Sela! What an exciting conclusion to this trilogy! I am going to start out by saying you must read these books in order. If you have read this series, start the series now since this is the end and it is really good. Now back to this book, it really is the perfect ending to this series. It was full of tension, especially the way the story starts off as Sela has just killed JT in self defense. The tension and drama does not stop there as JT's death is investigated and hard truths come out that hurt everyone. In the heart of it all Sela and Beck are in love and try to protect each other and those they care for. Sela and Beck's romance in this book as the others is red hot. Ms. Bennett writes some great titillating and scorching scenes. I loved the way the story is resolved and how the Author gives us glimpses into the future of of Beck and Sela. Awesome ending! I hate to see this couple's story come to an end. 5Stars *I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for a fair and honest review.*

My, my! This book is so good and a worthy conclusion of this series! I enjoyed every chapter and the plot twists, perfectly done! I dare to say that in this book the drama and angst are more present than in the previous two books but that's exactly what makes this story so great. I simply loved it! The fact that I've read the whole series in just two days is proof of that! And don't even get me started on the characters! Now we truly get to see their real personalities, especially Beck's parents, if they can even be called that! Beck sister and her daughter are such a blessing to both Beck and Sela and I'm so happy for both of them to have such fantastic people in their lives because they really deserve to have them. And of course, Beck and Sela, wow where to even start. In this story everything that can go wrong...goes wrong, yes! Every choice has it's consequences! The ones of you who've read the previous book know that the cliffy is a mayor one and it's also a nasty one, since we all know what that means for Beck and Sela's plans. They crumble into ashes and the whole world is there to watch it happen. Those two have to go through so much and my heart just broke for them. Their journey to get their HEA is a long one and there were times when I thought they weren't going to make BUT I should have known better. Their bond is so strong that nothing and no one can break it and they also prove that throughout the whole story. Least but not last, there were some characters that I though were just horrible people, if you've read the book you'll know exactly who I mean by that. I felt like they weren't even doing their jobs right and only looked after themselves. In the end I'm happy how the whole story turned out and my gosh, the epilogue just stole the freaking show for me. It's done so well and we not only get to see the characters a few months into their future lives, no, we get to see them in various time lapses and that really gave the book the satisfying ending that it needed, at least in my opinion. All in all, this whole series is amazing and I definitely recommend it to everyone!

Loved it! Fabulous ending to another intoxicating, intense and deeply seductive as well as scandalous series by Sawyer Bennett. I could not put this well written and crafted story down. I was enthralled by all the twists and turns in the plot of this last book of the series. Heart pounding with each turn of the page, filled with drama and angst, it was quite the ride. Loved Sela and Beck's strength, trust and love for each other through it all. This is storytelling at it's best. You do not want to miss this extraordinary series. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! I received a ARC through NetGalley and voluntarily agreed to post a honest review of my own thoughts of this story.

What a fitting end to an awesome series. If you have been following this series, you are not going to be disappointed at all with the outcome. This book picks up straight away from book two. We get all our questions answered, and then some. I love an epilogue and this one fulfilled my quota. Beck and Sela's relationship is truly tested in this book. They need to hold it all together so that neither one of them cracks under the pressure. In true Sawyer style, you are holding your breathe hoping and wishing for the underdog to win. I love it when a book is written in dual POV's, it makes me feel like I am getting the bigger picture being inside their heads. These characters were so loveable, that I didn't want to finish this book as I knew I was going to have a huge book hangover. The way they treat each other, and their family is so sweet, you just want them all to have a HEA. Sawyer Bennett has a great style with writing. She knows how to keep you interested and invested in the characters as well as keeping you captivated with the intimacy. This series is positively one not to miss.

I waited for this book to read all three...and I read them all in less than 24 hours! AMAZING! This series is sexy, swoony, sweet, and full of strength and courage. The book world needs Sela and Beck, and thanks to Sawyer Bennett, we have them!
