In this screwball romantic comedy, Haruhi, a poor girl at a rich kids' school, is forced to repay an $80,000 debt by working for the school's swankiest, all-male club—as a boy! There, she discovers just how wealthy the six members are and how different the rich are from everybody else...

One day, Haruhi, a scholarship student at exclusive Ouran High School, breaks an $80,000 vase that belongs to the "Host Club," a mysterious campus group consisting of six super-rich (and gorgeous) guys. About the Author

Bisco Hatori made her manga debut with Isshun kan no Romance (A Moment of Romance) in LaLa DX magazine. The comedy Ouran High School Host Club is her breakout hit. When she's stuck thinking up characters' names, she gets inspired by loud, upbeat music (her radio is set to NACK5 FM). She enjoys reading all kinds of manga, but she's especially fond of the sci-fi drama Please Save My Earth and Slam Dunk, a basketball classic.

I watched the anime before I ever read the series, and fell in love with it instantly. The characters are so funny, and just the plot by itself makes it great. I recomend this to everyone! It really is the greatest thing in the world. xD

This manga looks like a total chick thing, but I found it quite humorous. At first, when I saw all of the pretty boys and average art, I was going to stop reading after the first volume. And even after I read it, I was going to quit. But for some reason I checked out the second volume at the library. Frankly, it wowed me. The characters became deeper, the art improved as the series went on, until I had read the first 10 volumes already. With the new one out, and also the just as good anime, any manga fan should jump on the Ouran bandwagon. Don't think...just read.

Okay so don't be turned off by the "Host Club" aspect of this. It is not one of those creepy host clubs. I mean this host club's "king" is a totally innocent guy that is too stupid to figure out that he is in love with a girl. He thinks he is acting like her "father", and that is where his love comes from. Really cute! it has everything; comedy, romance, twincest(okay not the best thing to be pointing out when I'm trying to get you to read this.) Just read it please, you won't regret it! (Oh, and did I mention all the guys are incredibly cute?)

I've seen the anime and read the manga and I truely love this story. It is amazingly brilliant, unqiue story line, the characters are so lovable, you just can't help but love this manga. This manga series is the perfect example of why shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Ouran High School Host Club is SO HILARIOUS! you laugh every moment! I recommend this book to manga readers of all genres, it awsome! No words to describe how great this series is. I truely love it. I lok foward to reading and enjoying the rest of the series. Bisco Hatori has clearing made a HUGE HIT. Its so awesome. Everyone should read this.

The comedy is pretty basic, slapstick stuff and I'm not usually into comedy at all anyway. I'm way too serious for my own good. But this series just pokes fun at everyone and it literally made me laugh. Out loud. No lie. The characters are authentic and lovable and it's not just a distraction you pick up every once in a while; it actually has pretty strong plot. Even if comedy isn't your thing, I really think this would be worth your time.

OMG! This series is awsome the fact that there is so much of a variety of characters is cool. Tama-chan is the 'king' Hunny is the cutie-senior Mori is the quiet The homo-twins and the unreadable Kyoya. He unreadable because he has so many qualities that are so different. I suggest reading the manga and watching the anime. You'll se what I mean!!! *kawaii*

I liked the anime and of course wanted to read the manga. The first volume introduces Haruhi and the Host Club. And from there, hilarity ensues as Haruhi while posing as a boy to pay off a debt, sees what the Host members are like. Good start.

I read this book after I had watched the anime, and it still had been very good! The plot is somewhat similiar to the story, but it is probably a bit different. The book is really good, in the fact that the book has funny scenes and it has really good spots to hold you in, and I loved the book when i just read the first couple of pages and instantly fell in love with it. I would recommend this book, even if you are a little bit interested in it. And that is what I would say! :D I hope people who haven't read it can at least be able to reach for the book and flip the pages.

Sure, it may be kinda freaky, but we still laugh our butts off at His Highness Tamaki. These characters are absolutely loveable and freakishly devious! Haruhi is a new type of Herion: The one who doesn't care. In Ouran there are plenty of fighting emotions: The Twins' attention sucking from another person, Tamaki's...well...Tamaki, Kyoya's unknown motives and feelings, Hunny's fluffy cuteness, and Mori's silent, loveable feel. Combine the compelling story and loveable characters with the crazy situations and outrageous humor and the art style and I believe Hatori Bisco has made a HUGE hit.

I bought this one on a whim, as I do with so many of my manga series, because it reminded me of Hana Kimi. How wrong I was! Aside from the cross dressing plot device, the tones of those two series are quite different. Whereas Hana Kimi is a funny yet melodramatic love story, Ouran is an outrageous comedy that has just touches of the serious. This book actually made me laugh out loud many times. The characters are so over the top, but they're meant to be that way, those abnormally rich and gorgeous boys. The main character, Haruhi, who has to pretend to be a boy and be a part of their geisha-like club in order to pay off a debt she owes them, is our straight man. She is boggled at the lavish waste and over-production, she provides the side commentaries that let us know the audience is supposed to be aware of just how ridiculous it all is. And just as she can't help being endeared to the others, we can't help falling in love with them all. This series was a real winner with me.

When scholarship student Haruhi steps into the supposedly unused music room, hoping to get some studying done, she discovers the Ouran High School Host Club. The club entertains female students with teas, parties, conversation, and lots of drama. They also happen to think that Haruhi is a boy and, when she accidentally break an $80,000 vase, they demand that she repay them by working for the club. I liked this manga, but it took me awhile to get into it. It's goofy, manic, and a little confusing, but I think that as the first volume goes on, the characters get nailed down and are a bit more defined. There's a great moment where a fangirl is "casting" each member of the club in their stereotype. Haruhi isn't quite what I expected... she's tough, capable of holding her own, and sees through a lot of the acts in the club. I'm not all that attached as of yet, but we'll see how I feel about the next volume.

The premise of the story is that Haruhi Fujioka is a scholarship student at a very elite private school. One day Haruhi is looking for a quiet place to sit and read and accidentally stumbles upon the "Host Club". While trying to make a hasty retreat, Haruhi accidentally knocks over a 8 million yen vase. To pay back the debt Haru-chan agrees to a variety of punishments- from being the host club's dog to becoming a host and getting 1,000 customers. The first volume follows the adventures of the host club through a Christmas party, tropical getaway, bullies, and an amateur film. Extras include a bonus chapter about Hunny's bun-bun and a small character gallery with full page illustrations and profiles for each host member. The characters, while following the general stereotypes (the serious one, the cute one, the wacky one) seem to have a potential for more. The situations and the dialogue between the characters are done very well. I like it when a manga makes me laugh out load, and I did several times reading this. According to the information in the booklet this is the author's break out manga. You can tell that she still needs some practice on things. Some faces are contorted, which would normally not be so noticeable. However to make the twins exactly alike, many times the images of the twins appear to be one image flipped and facing the other image. When the artwork is flipped you can see some of the mistakes in proportion. Also compared to the later chapters, the first chapter has a large amount of grey-tone and seems much more jumbled.
