Overview

Life is good indeed, especially if you're a thirty-something expat living in an area of Provence where people would kill to live. And do! When Maggie's new best friend is arrested for murder Maggie is determined to find the real culprit. Trouble is, there are a few roadblocks in her way, like another best friend on the verge of divorce who's chosen Maggie's house to have her nervous breakdown in, an ex-paramour who has the power to make Maggie's life miserable--and does--and, oh yes, a killer as warped and determined as any Maggie has encountered in her four years living in France.

From pages 200 to the end it was constantly repeating one scene. Didn't find out what the end results were. Very disappointed.

Good read, suspense that made me anxious at points, and liked the way the story unfolded. Maggie sets out to prove her friend, Julia, was not guilty of the murder she was arrested for. Interesting mix characters who are three-dimensional, some you hate, others you like, a couple you love -- including Maggie's husband, Laurent. I appreciate a writer who supplies all the clues along the way and connects them seamlessly at the end. All in all, I think anyone who enjoys modern mysteries will like "Murder in Aix."

5th book in the Maggie Newberry Mystery series. Maggie is 8 months pregnant when her friend Julia is accused of murdering her ex-boyfriend. As Maggie tries to find the real murderer she runs into Inspector Roger Bedard again. She fights with him on Julia's innocence while both fight their attraction to each other. Maggie is fighting with Laurent as he tries to keep her and the baby safe during this murder investigation. I enjoy Maggie. She comes out and will not let Julie's innocence go. She is feisty as she goes up against Roger and his evidence against Julia. She also will not follow Laurent's suggestions for not getting into trouble. I liked the return of Grace but I did wonder if Grace was being melodramatic about her marriage. I always enjoy Jean Luc and Danielle. Roger, I'm not so sure about. If he would get over his jealousy and listen to Maggie--but then we would not have a story. The mystery was solid. I had no idea who it would be until it was explained at the end. There was quite a list of suspects. Maggie's deductions are as good as mine and gets her into trouble again. I look forward to Maggie's next adventure.
