Poor judgment: knowing better yet doing it anyway.

Flint Stone is a professional in every way.

He's a police officer with the K-9 unit and works at Gun Barrel High as the school resource officer. In his spare time, he's working his heart out to create a successful gym from the ground up.

He's loved by every single person he ever encounters—student, faculty, and employees—Everyone but Camryn Elvis Presley.

The only thing they have in common is their mothers' poor excuses for names.
Period. The end.

So why is it every time she crosses his path that he has the urge to mess up her perfectly curled hair? Or unbutton a few of her prim and proper buttons?

He knows he should stay away, yet like the high schoolers he's around every day, he has no choice but to react first and think about the consequences later.

Side note—bad decisions are made, leading to lapses in judgment that threaten both of their jobs. Yet when the time comes, neither one can seem to find the wherewithal to care. Why? Because being bad feels so good.

I love the realism of the characters. Not perfect but perfect for each other. And the mixture of great times and bad makes them more relatable to me and knowing that they'll get their HEA , keeps me coming back for more and more ! Can't wait for the next one !

Have you ever loved someone from afar, so hard that you would do anything to gain their attention? How about smashing into his police cruiser because your mind was pre-occupied with dirty thoughts of him? That is Camryn and Flint. Aka flinststone. Yeah, I’m pretty sure his mom had jokes. Being the school resource officer brought Flint right where he wanted to be .. in Camryn’s school. He knows all of her moves. All of her doings and … mis-doings. Flint got his chance to woo her and once she was under his spell, she wasn’t going anywhere. I absolutely love their banter. Each one has their own version of smart assery. Their sense of humor is off the charts and I absolutely love this duo. As with any books by Lani Lynn Vale, it’s addictive, it’s funny, it’s love and it’s amazing. Make sure to pick up Lord Have Mercy, which is the second book in her new Southern Gentleman series. 4 ½ feathers!!

Well this may well be my favourite from Lani Lynn Vale to date. I fell hard and fast for Flint Stone (just his name made me swoon), he ticked so many boxes that it was hard not too. A police officer with the K-9 unit, he and his partner Dooley also work at Gun Barrel High as the school resource office whilst trying to build a gym from the ground up. He is popular with everyone except chemistry teacher Camryn Elvis Presley (again I love the name, although that could be because I am a huge Elvis Presley fan).  This is a great example of romantic comedy and I found myself absolutely drawn in to Flint and Camryn’s story. The writing was strong and kept me engaged from the first to the last page. The chemistry between Flint and Camryn was off the charts and smoking hot as these enemies turn to lovers. I loved how feisty Camryn was, not afraid to stand her ground and she is someone I would be happy to call friend. This book was well written with characters that kept me entertained and at times was an emotional roller coaster of a read with humour, angst, some danger and a little sadness but love and romance win out. The twists and turns had me guessing right up to the end and all in all this was an entertaining read. I am excited to see where this series goes next.

Lord Have Mercy... That was definitely a fitting title for the second book in The Southern Gentleman series. I actually found myself saying 'Lord Have Mercy', quite a few times while reading this one. These were character's that you couldn't help but like and know they have an attraction to each other. But, of course they just won't act on their attraction. One reason being that Flint, kind-a-sort-a had a girlfriend. Then one day he finally got to his breaking point with the annoying sort-s girlfriend. So once things were over with her, it was game on for him to finally get Camryn. Camryn was finally able to face one of her personal fears when she gets into a relationship with Flint. Even when there was certain people that was out to hurt Flint, that just helped these two to grow closer together. This book is the perfect combination of humorous moments with serious moments. Vale has this way of writing a story with just the right balance. And I am looking forward to the next book in this series, or a new one from Vale period.

I could relate. I've had a crush from afar but in my instance he never noticed me. Glad Camryn Elvis Presley got her man.

Well, the title sure fits here, my fellow romance book loving friends. Just like I had hoped after reading the opening teaser chapter at the end of book 1, Hissy Fit. The sparks sure flew every time Camryn and Flint faced off in this enemies to lovers, smexy romantic read. Lucky for us and them love let loose, as well. Flint seemed to be the first to realize his frustration whenever he came around Camryn was actually something else entirely. Camryn, likewise, started to come to the same conclusion. That fine line between love and hate that seemed to be drawn in the sand between them got washed away by a tidal wave of lust, longing, and ultimately love. You’ll get to see these two destined to be together, knucklehead love birds take off their blinders and finally see and feel what true love can be. Beyond these few comments, my lips are sealed, folks. Just know you had better grab a fan and something cold to drink when you cuddle up with this very graphically steamy, romantic tale. As usual, this author heats up the pages and gives me a couple I'm glad to see get their HEA. Title: Lord Have Mercy, Series: The Southern Gentleman (Book 2), Author: Lani Lynn Vale, Pages: 224, stand-alone but part of a series, some VERY graphic steamy/smexy scenes with lusty language, good guy hero, sassy yet sweet heroine, animosity turns to love, won’t give up ex tries to cause problems, Book 1 - Hissy Fit (Ezra and Raleigh) Book 2 - Lord Have Mercy (Camryn & Flint) (I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I was not given any payment or compensation for this review, nor is there any affiliation or relationship between this reviewer and the author/publisher/PR firm.)

What I really like about LLV books is that her heroines are strong, resilient, and also quirky and funny. And Camryn fits this to a freaking tee!! She is so funny and snarky. What comes out of her character’s mouth had me laughing hard at times, and the way that her character was portrayed showed a large amount of strength and really had me liking her more than I have other heroines of her books. And Flint … he really surprised me. I was expecting that there would be something about him that we didn’t get from his introduction in the first book, and I was totally right. He is very alpha, which is sexy as hell, but he has a warm center that really drew me in. And the way that he reacts is not always what I would have expected, but certainly showed a great characters that I really enjoyed. Overall, great book with a great plot and awesome characters. I laughed at times and certainly felt animosity towards one character in the book. This character totally deserved a throat punch through this book and I was slightly disappointed that this didn’t happen :(. But, overall, I really enjoyed the story and the characters. So, two thumbs up from me and happy reading!!

I'm pretty sure that Lani Lynn Vale is one of my new favorite authors. I mean, this book started off with a reference to the Final Destination movie series, something that I think about all the time from that movie! It's funny to read my updates on Goodreads as I was reading this, I keep going on and on about how much I love this author! So much that she does in her stories makes me laugh, and keeps me turning pages, staying up way later than I should. One fun thing is that each chapter has a little text or note from one of the characters, and it has absolutely nothing to do with the actual story in that chapter, but is so funny and gives you such a fun snippet of the characters on the first chapters, and by the end you're just chuckling at the little tidbit and thinking how that is sooooo whatever character it is. The characters are real, but fun. All the characters play a role in the story, even ones that you might think are just there as extras end up having bigger parts to play a lot of times. I loved the total hate/lust that was between Flint and Camryn. And their names, so perfect! Flint Stone. And Camryn Elvis Presley. But it's not all fun and games and just gossipy issues at school for the drama. There's real drama at the end. Major drama. Some tears drama for me. But lots of loyalty and love and steam to make it the kind of story I have come to love and expect from this author.

LORD HAVE MERCY For sure! OMG this is one of my favorites of Lani Lynn Vale's most recent releases! It had everything I love from the humor, the steaminess (holy fire!) to the suspense with the evil plotter! Such a fun, interesting, and creative read! I devoured this while putting my kiddos to bed and I just could not get enough! This is couples goals right here! LOVED!

'Lord Have Mercy' on my ovaries, for I swear they explode every time I read about one of Lani's Alphas. Camryn is a teacher at the high school, and every time she sees Flint she does something stupid. Flint Stone is a resource officer at the school and every time he sees Camryn he wants to act like a teenager and do something stupid! Once again, Lani Lynn Vale has not disappointed me, I can't wait to read her next offering in this series.

This is book 2 in the Southern Gentleman series, and is about Flint and Camryn. These two! I laughed through out the entire book! This is definitely one I won't forget, and one that I will read again! Camryn Presley is a high school teacher, who had a pretty average upbringing. She has a happy life, except for this one thing. Officer Flint, the School Resource Officer pushes her buttons! And not necessarily in a good way! But really, there is something there that keeps pushing them together, even when they try to stay away from each other. Officer Flint Stone is a K9 officer, and is working to build his own gym. He works hard, and doesn't know the meaning of taking a break. Always on the go, he keeps running in to Camryn, at school, at the gym, even in public. Sparks fly each time, and just seem to get hotter with each meeting. I couldn't help but love Flint and Camryn. In the beginning, they have this type of love-hate relationship, (you know the kind, the I love to hate you type!) They just seemed to rub each other the wrong way. It made for some combustible interactions! But once they got past that point, they just seemed so right for each other. They fit so well! This book was fun, and full of surprises. I never could have seen that end coming!
