Do you ever suspect that everyone else has life figured out and you don’t have a clue? If so, Rachel Hollis has something to tell you: that’s a lie.

As the founder of the lifestyle website and CEO of her own media company, Rachel Hollis developed an immense online community by sharing tips for better living while fearlessly revealing the messiness of her own life. Now, in this challenging and inspiring new book, Rachel exposes the twenty lies and misconceptions that too often hold us back from living joyfully and productively, lies we’ve told ourselves so often we don’t even hear them anymore.

With painful honesty and fearless humor, Rachel unpacks and examines the falsehoods that once left her feeling overwhelmed and unworthy, and reveals the specific practical strategies that helped her move past them. In the process, she encourages, entertains, and even kicks a little butt, all to convince you to do whatever it takes to get real and become the joyous, confident woman you were meant to be.

With unflinching faith and rock-hard tenacity, Girl, Wash Your Face shows you how to live with passion and hustle--and how to give yourself grace without giving up.

This book was recommended to me by my hair dresser who is 20 years younger than me. I thought prior to reading that its content might not apply to me a fifty plus woman. I was wrong. It is a must read with hard truths and inspiring personal stories. It has made me think about whats keeping me from succeeding in all areas of my life.

This book is real. She pours out her sadness to give you hope through yours. She doesn’t try to sell you some miracle self help book. She speaks as though you (the reader) is her friend that she genuinely wants to succeed. I loved every page and will read over and over.

I decided to review this book when I learned Rachel was a Christian and I knew many non-believers were reading her book. So I was curious what all the fuss was about. Before I even started reading this book I did a bit more research on Rachel and my view became a bit bent. There are many people who criticize her. After reading this book I have to say I think her book is really more for the non-believer or the new believer. There isn’t much depth. But I think it is good for what it is. I think a believer needs to know that going into it. If you are looking for something deeper don’t read this book. I think she has a platform and who knows maybe she will reach someone with the truth of the gospel that is sprinkled in this book. I appreciated her true stories from her own life and how she has overcome her struggles. No one is perfect even if they appear to be on the outside. I do wish there was more emphasis on the fact that the only way to true happiness is through Jesus. She says only you can make you happy. If I had to rely on myself I would have no hope. In choosing Jesus I can be happy, apart from Him everything else is meaningless. A copy of this book was given to me through All opinions are my own.

I was somewhat skeptical about this book at first. But with each sentence I keep identifying with every single word! This book gave me goose bumps, made me laugh, cry and helped turn a light back on that had gone off a long time ago. I didn’t want the book to end lol!! I will be reading this over and over again and giving it to my daughters for Christmas!

Excellent book! A definite must-read for every single woman in the whole entire world. Seriously. Hollis does a beautiful job laying out ugly truths and encouraging the reader to make a better life. As she says, STOP waiting for someone else to fix your life. Take care of your body. Go all-in towards your goals. Stop comparing yourself to others. No excuses. Be a good human and treat other humans with kindness and respect. Cry. Laugh. Have fun and be silly. Love. EAT. Have sex. Stop judging people. Lift each other up. Embrace the chaos and don't you EVER give up. Determine what you want your life to be like and go get 'em.

Really enjoyed this book. If you struggle with negative self talk or motivation to simply keep reaching for your dreams this book will not disappoint. The author is honest and vulnerable in her story, in a way that encourages other women to take care of themselves so they have the ability to care for others, while never giving up their dream with practical tips on how to.

Girl, Wash Your Face By Rachel Hollis Easy to read: Yes Life changing: Yes Inspiring: Yes Full of truths: Yes Down to earth: Yes Yes, Yes, Yes to this book. I want to buy it for every girl I know young and old. I think that Rachels honesty throughout this book is what makes it so special. We are all in need of her words and I hope that you read this book! Perspective: 31 yr old, wife to my high school sweetheart, mother of 2 boys (3 and 7), casual Occupational Therapy Assistant, a sufferer of anxiety/depression, and most important Jesus freak. I can say that this book was read in almost an evening and got me all pumped I couldn't go to sleep. Not to steal the phrase but just do it. I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Her whole story is so relatable even though I didn't live this exact life. It's the situations we find ourselves in and can't see our way out. Taking a minute to reframe them really changes your outlook. I could honestly reccomend for any age.

A book to light a spark under you. To remember that you are the one who has to keep the promises to yourself. To never give up and always follow your dreams. Very inspiring, honest and freeing.

I’m kind of conflicted about this book. It’s really well written, and honestly gives such a good overview of the struggles of being a working mom in our modern world, that it’s worth it just for that. There are some parts that are a little preachy. There are some chapters that didn’t really apply to me. But there are other chapters that were totally eye-opening to me, that changed the way I do things in my own life. My sister recommended it to me because we’re both working moms, struggling to find that balance between caring for our families and professions and caring for ourselves. Self care is…tough. Tough to prioritize without feeling like the lowest of the low, because we’re taught that spending time on ourselves is neglecting the others in our life. But this book helps put the lie to that, because taking care of ourselves is the ONLY way we can effectively take care of the others in our lives. I’d recommend this one to any woman struggling to balance work, family, parenting, etc. If you’ve ever wanted to strive for a life that would look good on Instagram, basically, you should read this book to come back to the rest of us, where life is messy and complicated and beautiful.
