I'll bet there was less red at the St. Valentine's Day Massacre," Lt. Sam Holland said as she stood in the doorway to the Fraternal Order of Police Hall and surveyed the scene before her.

"Wow." Senator Nick Cappuano took a long look around the big room. "Wow."

Sam's sister Tracy joined them. "Oh. My. God. Celia and her friends went freaking nuts with the hearts and flowers."

Every square inch of the large room was decorated with red flowers, balloons and streamers.

"I've seen murders that were less bloody than this reception," Sam said.

"It is her first wedding," Nick reminded them. "She has the right to go all out."

Sam wondered if he'd expect his first wedding to be as elaborate. She'd been there, done that and had no desire to do it again. But for him...Well, for him she'd do just about anything. However, she was drawing the line at hearts and flowers. She had a reputation to uphold.

"Holy shit," Sam's sister Angela said when she joined them. "Check out the ice sculpture. Jesus."

"Cupid, not Jesus," Nick said, smiling at the horror on the sisters' faces. "Be nice, you guys. Celia is so excited."

"I had no idea she had this in her." Sam battled her way through the streamers and balloon ribbons to get to the bar. She needed a drink, and she needed it now.

"You'd be well advised to keep her far, far away from your wedding," Tracy said.

"No kidding." Sam downed a glass of pinot grigio and gestured for another. "How much of this do you suppose Dad knew about?"

"None of it," Angela said, smirking.

"He's a smart man," Nick said, "so I'm sure he told her to do whatever she wanted."

"Is that what a smart man does?" Sam asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Not this smart man. If I did that, we'd end up with beer and peanuts at O'Leary's."

"And that would be bad how exactly?"

Nick bent to kiss her. "We can do better."

Before Sam could tell him she didn't want to do better than O'Leary's, they were interrupted by the arrival of the bride and groom. Sam couldn't deny that her father and his new wife radiated happiness. How could Sam begrudge the woman who had married her paralyzed father the reception of her dreams? Her own wedding, Sam vowed silently, would be as low-key as she could possibly make it. In fact, eloping was starting to look really good to her.

Dressed in red satin bridesmaid gowns, Celia's new stepdaughters stood faithfully by her side while she cut the heart-shaped red velvet cake and fed a piece to her groom. They endured the speeches and the toasts and smiled for no fewer than a thousand photographs. The ultimate insult, however, still awaited them.

"She can't make us," Tracy said when the DJ asked the sisters, their husbands and fiancé to come to the dance floor.

"Dad can make us," Angela said. "He still has that look. You know the one I mean."

"I've never wanted to be called to a murder scene more than I do right now," Sam said through gritted teeth.

"Ladies," Nick said with that charming smile he'd been using all day to manage them, "it's one dance, and then you're done."

"I know I speak for my sisters when I tell you to shut up and stop defending Valentine's Day Bridezilla," Sam said.

Nick laughed at the dismay on their faces as the first notes of Bette Midler's "The Rose" filled the room.

"I'm going to puke in my shoes," Angela muttered. Three-and-a-half months pregnant with her second child, she'd been green for weeks.

"Those are my Jimmy Choos," Sam reminded her, "and if you puke on them, I'll kill you.

I'm on the 4th in this series by Marie Force and I can't put them down. Reminds me of the J.D Robb In Death series. If you like murder mysteries with a good romantic storyline added, then you will love these!!

I have read the whole fatal series twice and loves every one of them. The action.romance.justice.humor and story line were very entertaining. I can't wait to see what happens next.

It is so easy to invest yourself in reading 'The Fatal Series'. As the core characters, Sam and Nick are such a hot couple and they keep getting better and better. I love Sam's taking names and kicking butt attitude. Then there is Nick the hot senator, and who wouldn't want to warm up to him. I also enjoy the other minor people that sometimes get a bit more storyline. "Fatal Consequences" is a standalone book, but you would miss so much if you just read one of them. Looking forward to reading the next in the series. 4.5 Stars!

So many storylines surrounding nick and sam. Each character's life has plenty of story to tell and grow with. Love all of sams detectives and know that stahl will be responsible for something that goes down hard in this series. Be good if he had to work with sams team and possibly become a better person... Mrs. Force keep the stories coming. Thank you

Sam and Nick - DC's favorite couple. As they prepare to get married, Sam finds herself investigating yet another high profile murder case. When it comes to light that a Senator has been sleeping with a member of the cleaning crew - and she winds up dead - Sam knows there's more to the story than what first appears. Her gut rarely steers her wrong, and it's absolutely correct in this one. She finds herself investigating several political figures - some in very high places. But the murderer is convinced he's untouchable and begins to make threats against Sam. Meanwhile, Nick is trying to plan their wedding and keep Sam safe. To top it all off, Sam's ex-husband is back in the story causing problems again. Sam and Nick's relationship really seems kind of settled in this one, so Marie has introduced a new romance that is so incredibly sweet. Detective Gonzalez (Gonzo) has just found some incredibly exciting and scary news. He's afraid that it will tear his new relationship with Christine apart. But they are both amazing people and you just know they are meant to be together. It was a lot of fun to have this couple finding true love - even though their story wasn't the main event - it was prominent enough that it really stands out. *This book was received in exchange for an honest review - my copy included the novella, Fatal Destiny* Fatal Destiny - Nick and Sam's wedding is almost here, and Nick is determined that nothing will keep Sam from being able to make it. He refuses to let her work get in the way this time. I loved watching Sam's more girly side come out as she gets excited about she gushes over shoes and dresses. But Sam may have caught a break in the case of her father's shooting - and it will be hard to keep her focused on the wedding and not work. And the break is a very dangerous one.  I loved the wedding planner, Sam calls her Tinker Bell and now I can't remember what her real name was. Every time I picture her like a little pixie making magic happen. And that's just what she does for Sam and Nick. Their wedding comes together beautifully and there are quite a few very touching scenes spread out nicely throughout this fantastic novella.

These books r sooo good. From the first book thru book five. I was addicted to them. Nick & Sam remind me of Eve & Roarke in the In Death Series fron JD Robb. The mysteries are enjoyable and the interactions are wonderful. I can't wait for book six. I hope Ms. Force keeps writing in this series.
