A former high school basketball star gets a second shot at life when he's miraculously transformed into a teenager and offered the opportunity to redefine his future. Back in 1989, Mike O' Donnell (Matthew Perry) had it all; not only was the 17-year-old senior the king of the basketball court, but college scouts were circling as well. But just as Mike's future began to glow brighter than ever before, he sacrificed everything in order to stay by his expectant girlfriend, Scarlet, and be a good father. Nearly 20 years later, Mike has just been passed over for a big promotion at work, his marriage is failing, and his teenage kids can't stand him. His dreams long gone and his family falling apart, Mike takes to staying with his best friend, Ned (Thomas Lennon), a former high school geek-turned-techno billionaire. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, Mike is transported back into his teenage body and given the given the unique opportunity to relive his salad days. But while Mike may look 17 again, his thirtysomething outlook at life puts him hopelessly at odds with the class of 2009. When Mike discovers that by attempting to recapture his best years he could risk losing all the best things he ever experienced in life, the time comes to make a decision that could have a drastic impact on both his past and his future.

This movie is great and fun, where the main character gets a chance to look back at the choice he made in high school that forever changed his life. He gets closer to his kids and begins to see his wife in a different light when he is changed back to a 17 year old in present time. Much better than "Big" with Tom Hanks, this movie has great messages for the whole family about what's really important in life and how important our decisions are from the start. Great morals, too. I like how Zac Effron (as the 17 year old) tells his upset daughter that one day she'll meet someone who will respect her and love her for who she is, and not expect her to do anything she doesn't want to. I also like how the main character realizes how much he loves his family and how distant he'd been from them over the years. I can't tell you how it ends, as that would give away one of the best parts, but I will tell you that you won't be disappointed. Whether you're a fan of Zac Effron or not, you'll love this movie, because this isn't one of his usual high school roles, instead, it's a movie impressing upon all who watch it what life is really about--and marriage.

This movie really surprised me!! Zac was amazing, which also surprised me. I love the teen heart throb as much as the next girl but HSM 2 and 3 just didn't do it for me. This movie is so funny I almost died laughing in the theatre. I recommend is strongly. MUCH better than other movies like it (BIG & 13 going on 30, etc.) Buy this movie!! I am going to watch this over and over again!

I had never gotten around to seeing this in the theatre or even finding out too much about it, and after having seen it sitting in the store after it's release, I really wasn't quite sure what to make of it. I thought that it might be somewhat decent, but I didn't realize that it would be as good as it actually was. I laughed through most of the whole thing, and it relayed a great message behind it too...really put into perspective what's important. It is PG-13 for a small bit of language and a little bit of sexual reference, but I would almost go as far to say that it could be a good family movie, because of the lesson it teaches. All in all though, this movie was heart warming and very funny. I would totally recommend this one!

Zac Efron did an amazing job in 17 Again. The movie is very good, maybe not quite as good as the movie "Big" with Tom Hanks.... I liked this movie a lot and its good to see Zac in something other than HSM. He is hilarious and i recommend buying this movie.
