Confirmed bachelor Austin Montgomery is ready to settle down. The eldest of eight Montgomerys, he’s the big, bearded and broody one, yet one look at the new owner of the boutique across the street, he knows exactly what he wants. Her.

Finding a man is the last thing on Sierra Elder’s mind. Wanting to cover up scars that run deeper than her flesh, she finds in Austin a man that truly gets to her—in more ways than one.

Although wary, they embark on a slow, tempestuous burn of a relationship. When blasts from both their pasts intrude on their present, however, it will take more than a promise of what could be to keep them together.

While I enjoyed most of this book, the last third was disappointing. It was too pat, seemed rushed & way too predictable. The really good sex scenes from the beginning, turn our to be too few, very short & kinda bland. Austin starts out being a strong character, but dithers & waffles.

Very little substance. What was there was either completly predictable or outlandishly improbable. The portrayal of BDSM seemed forced, like the author added it to cash in on the latest craze. Deleting it from my library.

Great story to a point. Typos were distracting. The main issue was the fact that there were too many conflicts along with a lot of characters. With the protagonist having many siblings, then side stories if cousins, then female counterpart having her was like a late night soap in steroids. I think this story would have worked better as book 3 or 4 once a lot if the characters were established.

The book starts out HOT, the characters have depth and are well developed but then somewhere halfway through the multiple storylines start feeling rushed and turn bland. Overall good but could have been better.

This is primarily Austin and Sierra's story but since it is the first of the series there are many characters and situations introduced. Definitely an adult story with just a touch of D/s. I'd like to read more of the Montgomery family.

I feel like this could have been a good story except for all the D/s. That the author spent to much time on. While not enough time letting us get to know the characters better. I was greatly let down. Great characters that were never let out.

I got the book for free and read about 80 pages and still did not relate to hero or heroine. Way too many secondary characters--8 siblings, parents, spouses and friends! Oh yes, don't forget a stalker, traumatized heroine and a serious illness distracting from the stiff relationship of hero/heroine. I just can't finish.

I had a hard time reading this book through, it did not flow very well, there was a foundation of a plot but continued to come off track

I have read all these stories so far. This one felt discombobulated somewhat to me because it seemed to bring so many family members and senerios into play that l would loose track.

Wow...all over the map. Not up to its potential.

I find it hard to believe that this a “New York Times Best Seller”! There is to many typos and side stories (to try to get you to pay money for other books). The ending is very rushed to wrap everything up and I was left feeling like it was disjointed. I was looking for a great love story but was given wishy washy instead.

I love this story but I feel like should address this. I read this a while back on Wattpad and when I found a published book with the same name i had to see if it was a coincidence. Nope, same book. Don't know if the Wattpad version was plagerized or the same author just as I don't know if I will actually accomplish anything with this, but I thought I could try.

This is the first book in the Montgomery Ink series following a novella about their cousin Shep. It follows Austin Montgomery and Sierra Elder. Austin owns Montgomery Ink tattoo parlor with his sister Mya. He is seriously thinking about settling down after seeing how happy his cousin is but hasn't found the right person. He meets Sierra when she comes into the shop and he makes a snarky comment towards her. Sierra is there because she wants to get a tattoo to cover her scars and hopefully help her move on. Austin ends up being her artist and they get to know each other. I truly love them together. They are perfect for each other. They can hold each other up when they need but also just have each other's back when they need it. There are many twists and turns in this book, so many surprises that I never saw coming! But in the end they get their HEA and it is a beautiful thing!

Discovered because I was won the 7th book in this series and I refuse to read a series out of order, so I had to start at the beginning, and I am glad that I did. First off let me say that I already just from this first book believe that I am gonna love this series. The characters and the family dynamics are great. The further in I got the more I know that even with the jumps and grammar stumbles that it was worth dealing with to keep reading. It is a great romance novel as with most beginning of a series novels the world building is a must, but can be rough on reader as we try to learn who is who and how they each play a role in this fictional world. This is the first I have read by Carrie Ann Ryan, so I am not sure if the transitions are something that happens in her books, but the transitions from chapter to chapter threw me off a little when it jumps through time. It is like ladee dah dee dah then bam next chapter new time frame. I had to recalibrate my mind each time it jumped the first few times and reread to make sure it really did jump and I didn't miss something. Also some minor grammar stumbles, but nothing that made me wanna quit the book. I have quit a book before because of grammar issues. So suck it up and jump aboard this great beginning of the Montgomery Inked Series. In my opinion if you enjoy the following you should give this one a try: mild BDSM play in the bedroom, reconciliations of the past for both the Austin & Sierra. A rocky gotta fight for it love story. Along with some surprises from the past good and bad then like I said jump into this series. I don't regret it one bit and I will surely read the rest of them.

It's the Waltons with kink. The D/S plot line was just a bit too contrived. They fit perfectly together? Really? A homicidal intent? Does get points for the honesty and communication the characters display.

Not her best. This book was included in the free download of Tasted and Tempted and I was really excited about reading it, especially when I found out this anthology included all full length stories. Now to begin with since it was a free download I feel like I have no right to complain, so lets just I did not connect to the book as much as I wanted, it just didn't do it for me. Overall I had no problems with our main characters, though the outcome was predictable, where I had a problem was with all the other characters that got introduced in this book with starting storylines of future books to come. It was totally unnecessary and interrupted the flow of the book. Also my image of Austin was shot a bit when he seemed so fearful of a biker that came in to get a tattoo, Austin was presented as this big, strong Dom and I hardly doubt he would be intimidated by another guy, also it added nothing to the story, why did we need to meet this guy and go into detail about him? Anyway I doubt I will follow this series, which surprised me since I usually love books by Carrie Ann Ryan.

I loved Austin & Sierra's story. This book is approximately around 200 pages and the way she writes her stories will draw you into that world. Besides having the strong believable storyline, she also has her characters the same way. You also get to see characters from previous books which is great. If I was you, take the time to read this one, it's worth it.
