The dawning of the Davies family saga...

It's the late 1960's in Keeneston and life is very tense for everyone. War consumes the news and young men prepare themselves for the draft. Jake Davies is fresh out of high school and head-over-heels in love. He's known Marcy's the one since she hit him in the head with a cheese ball, but then his world crashes around him when his number is drawn in the draft.

Marcy Faulkner's home life has caused her a lot of grief. Her sheltered life is quickly turned upside down after a night in a jail cell with the very handsome Jake Davies. The spark is immediate and undeniable. Everything is perfect until one fateful night. With Jake's deployment looming and Marcy's parents moving, the young couple must find a way to be together. Will their love endure the trials of war or will it be too much for them to bear?

I have read this entire series and loved all of the books until now. This one was too short and had minimal content. I feel like the author abused the privilege of having loyal readers, since I personally counted on this being the type of book she has previously written. If she's going to give a short and "sweet" novella, she should call it that. Plus, it should be free or at most $.99. I am sorry for being rough, but I gave every other book in this series 5 stars. Please don't waste my money again.

If you have read any of the Bluegrass Series books you will know that Marci and Jake Davies were the parents of some of the main characters in those books... This is Marci and Jake's story and it is beautifully portrayed from the time of their meeting until they are grandparents... Very short, very sweet and very worth the read even if you haven't read any of the Bluegrass Series... Really enjoy Ms. Brooks writing...

Bluegrass Dawn is a novella (about 88 pages) and is the story of Jake and Marcy. Marcy was always one of my favorite characters in the Bluegrass series, and this novella just proves why. Bluegrass Dawn touches on the relationship, the love, and the struggles Marcy and Jake faced before we knew them in Kathleen's hit series. There were more LOL moments than I could count, and plenty of tears. I don't know why this one made the series seem so final. Finished. I know Kathleen is working on the next generation in 2015 and I can't wait to see where she takes it! Bring on the Bluegrass Kids!

So nice to get Jake & Marcy's story. I would have loved the story and rated it accordingly if it wasn't for one discrepancy I couldn't get past. There is a fairly big scene in Final Vow that tells a little of Marcy's story that doesn't jive with t his story at all. Otherwise, a wonderful story.

I have always loved the parents and enjoyed reading their back story. Seeing the sisters as young adults just a bit older that me was so refreshing. I look forward to reading their stories in more detail.
