A New Thought for Christmas

A New Thought for Christmas

by Melissa Etheridge

What if someone made a Christmas album for everybody else? That's exactly what Melissa Etheridge has done. Working alongside her producer David Cole, Melissa’s songs celebrate a spiritual time of year where people can rejoice in their traditional, or non-traditional ways, and celebrate a winter solstice filled with love and peace. This ten song album has newly composed songs such as “Ring The Bells,” “Light A Light,” and “It's Christmas Time” interspersed with traditional holiday standards such as “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” and “Blue Christmas.” This album begs the question, “If we’re all talking about peace on earth, what if we all concentrated on peace on earth and made it happen?"

This is an upbeat collection of songs that are played with plenty of heart.

I love this artist. I love how she mixed the words from classic Christmas carols with her own songs and melodies. I agree that the that Ring the Bells and O Night Devine are some of the best tracks, but Christmas in America speaks right to the heart during this time.
I will listen to this album all through the year. along with Awakenings. Oh how I would love to sit down with Melissa and just chat about the world and what inspires her songs. Buy this album, you won't regret it.

Being a fan of almost all things Melissa Etheridge, I enjoyed this. Not the best she's ever done, and still it is an awesome collection of tunes. I enjoyed it.

It's October and I can't stop listening to this xmas CD. That is very unlike me. Ethridge's new Christmas CD is quickly becoming my favorite holiday CD of all time. Bluesey, lonely and joyful, a mix of standards and some new instant classics...truely an out of the box holiday album.

This has become my favorite CD of the year. The songs, the lyrics, the performance - all so heartfelt. The songs resonate with you. When I wake up in the morning with a song "playing in my head" I know that the CD has gotten to me. This one has.

2 tracks that stand out - Ring the Bells (#5) and O Light Divine (#10). These are songs that can be played anytime of the year.

You know that a CD is going to be exceptional when you have trouble finding it in the store. I went to 4 different B&N stores before I found a copy - it was sold out in the first 3.

Buy this CD, you will not be disappointed.
