A Love to Call Mine is the story of a young man who is diagnosed with cancer. Max wants to be left alone to deal with his illness but his oncology nurse is there to see that he is taken care of both physically and emotionally. Max is also wanting to find his unknown paternal birth family. All of this makes for an intriguing book. I recommend A Love to Call Mine to others. I received an ebook from the author. This is my honest opinion.

A book I highly recommend This the second time I have read Marrillee Whren’s book, A Love to Call Mine, and I still love it. It is the second book in the Front Porch Promises series. The cover of the book with the rocking chair on the front porch just seems to invite you in to a warm and happy experience. Each of the books can stand alone, but I think you would enjoy the whole series. This book is the story of Max, a cancer patient and Heather an oncology nurse. It deals with the issues of facing cancer, rejection and the ordinary or not ordinary issues of life that challenge each of us to simply put our trust in God. Marrillee does a wonderful job weaving this story and pulling us into the action until we feel we are a part of it. I highly recommend book and give it a five start rating. I received this complimentary book for review from the author. I am not required to write positive reviews. The opinions I have expressed are my own

I've read books before where a character had cancer but they've been a secondary character, not the main character! This book had the main male character dealing with cancer and it was powerful. It took the reader from the moment he receives the diagnosis all the way through treatment and beyond. It's very emotional and goes through all the rollercoaster ups & downs. Since my mother has gone through breast cancer just two years ago, this was a subject close to home for me. The author really portrayed the feelings and emotions of both the cancer patient (Max) and his family, friends and co-workers. While going through this process, Max, has for his nurse, a woman that he knew before....and that's not necessarily a good thing! They didn't agree over Max's former girlfriend! But, now Heather wants to help Max get through his cancer and the past keeps getting in the way for both of them. Add to that, the reason Max moved to Massachusetts in the first place - to find his biological father's family - and the stress on Max just keeps getting higher! Heather wants to help but Max feels she's butting into everything in his life so there is lots of tension. I really felt that this book had so much to teach me and had so much emotion! I feel I am better equipped to understand someone going through cancer now, even my own mother! I enjoyed the book though. It's not a sad story or one that will bring you down. It's a very positive one and had a lot of different relationships to consider. I would recommend it.

Impossible wishes. A take-charge nurse. And an inconsiderate, self-centered man. God works through the difficult times in our lives, even Heather's preconceived notions and Max's annoyance of being told what to do. Where does God's plan fall in for someone who has cancer? "It's hard to let our faith rule when bad things are happening to us." Max has to learn that God wants what's best for us, but sometimes we can't see it for what is happening around us. That's where faith comes in. Will God open Heather's eyes to see the real man before her today, not who he used to be before? I loved this story by Merrille Whren. She's got a great author's voice. It's not often a book brings tears to my eyes when I get to the ending, but this one did. Heather and Max as a couple, their struggles, and the story line pulled me in. I didn't want to see this one end. If you're facing a trial and you see no way out, or how God could even have a hand in the outcome, you need to read this book. You may not understand the journey, but you can feel God's hand in yours. I received a free copy in the hope that I would mention/review it on my blog. I was not required to give a positive review, only my honest opinion - which I've done. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own and I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Max Reynolds's goal is to find the family of the father he never knew and had rejected him. But Before he can begin his search, he is diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma. If that isn't bad enough, his oncology nurse is Heather Watson. Max blames Heather for destroying his hope of marrying the woman he loved, her best friend. Can Heather face the challenge of guiding him through his fight against cancer and his questioning faith? Max feels that she is meddlesome even when romantic sparks fly between them. When Max faces a critical health decision will Heather meddle one last time? Can she risk her heart on a future with or without her. Will he win his battle with cancer? Will he allow his anger at her meddlesomeness to lose a chance at love? The author has done a great Jon writing of the emotions of a cancer victim. I highly recommend this book. I receive complimentary books for review from publishers, publicists, and/or authors, including Netgalley. I am not required to write positive reviews. The opinions I have expressed are my own. A Love to Call Mine was SO good! The story took the main characters, Max and Heather, on a very difficult journey as they navigated Max’s treatment for his cancer. There were also hurt feelings from the past that kept creeping into their slowly blossoming romance. I thought that the author did such a great job of expressing the confusing thoughts and worries that both of these characters felt. This was one of those books that really made me feel as if I knew Max and Heather and traveled along this path with them. Max not only battled the effects that cancer treatment brought about in his body, but he wrestled with many other insecurities regarding his family history. He had an intense need to belong, yet that desire battled with wanting to keep control and do things for himself. Questions of faith and of how to lean on God and trust Him in both the good and bad times were woven throughout the story naturally and effectively. This book was very hard for me to set down! I received a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This inspiring story drew me in from the very first paragraph. How would Max handle the news he has Hodgkin Lymphoma? Add in the surprise when he discovers that his nurse is Heather, the same person who encouraged the break-up between him and his longtime girlfriend, Brittany. Who dreamed that he would encounter her in his doctor’s office after his move from Montana to Massachusetts in hopes of finding his birth father’s family? Both Max and Heather face issues based on their previous knowledge of each other. Max thinks of her as the person who ruined his love life. Heather looks at Max as the guy who did not give Brittany the attention she deserved. She offers to have another nurse work with him, but Max finds some comfort in having someone familiar around as he learns to accept his diagnosis and goes through treatment. Travel with Max on his journey to defeat cancer and follow his heart as he learns that Heather isn’t his enemy after all. Together they rely on their faith to help them make the right decisions and guide their new relationship. *I receive complimentary books for review from publishers, publicists, and/or authors.
